St. Petersburg, Fla. – The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) has set dates for four public workshops that will be held around the county next month to discuss the first phase of a proposed service redesign.
As part of a presentation the board of directors received Wednesday, PSTA will now focus on a customer-oriented service redesign to gain financial sustainability through year 2020. The redesign is a step-by-step approach at examining the entire PSTA system under the lens of the new Path Forward plan and current fiscal constraints.
Broken up into ten phases and spanning over the course of three years, each phase will undergo a six-step process that begins with a route performance evaluation and ends with a public and board-endorsed action plan.
Phase one will focus on the lowest performing routes in the system: 1, 18, 30, 58, 444, and East Lake Connector. If approved by the board next month, this first phase will save a projected $930,000 as planned in the FY 2016 budget.
Phase one is the only phase scheduled for 2015.
