Ferg’s to host ‘Dunk the Pump’ Event for Transit Awareness

St. Petersburg, Fla. – PSTA is teaming up with Ferg’s to host the first ever Dunk the Pump event in celebration of National Dump the Pump Day.

Who: The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) & Ferg’s Sports Bar
When: Tuesday, June 16, 2015 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.
Where: 1320 Central Ave, St Petersburg, FL 33705

Every June, transit agencies across the country celebrate National Dump the Pump Day by finding new and exciting ways to encourage people to hang up their keys and ride public transportation.

This year, a PSTA staffer will wear a gas pump costume, sit atop a dunk tank, and wait to take the plunge—all for transit awareness. Those who are successful in dumping the pump will win a free bus pass, and are encouraged to use it on Thursday, June 18, for the official holiday.

Media Opportunity:
Members of the media are not only invited to attend this event, but to participate as well! Interested parties will have the opportunity to sit inside the dunk tank for the best POV shot possible. To schedule special requests please contact Ashlie Handy at (727) 488-8237.

Additional Info:
Public transportation is not only a financially responsible alternative to driving a car, but also has a significant impact on the environment. With approximately 85 percent of greenhouse gas emissions coming from the transportation sector, those who choose public transportation significantly reduce their carbon footprint and conserve energy.

Participants:
City officials are invited and encouraged to join PSTA in dumping the pump this year to raise awareness for public transportation—a vital asset to each of our cities and communities. Those in attendance can choose if they want to throw a pitch or climb in and take the plunge!

So Ferg’s fans, patrons, and press: Step right up and Dunk the Pump!
